Published in 2006 (Author House, ISBN# 1-4208-5071-7), this illustrated story is my first children's book!
Inspired by actual events while teaching at my school, I felt the need to write this story to both entertain and educate young readers about responsibility and respect for the natural environment, as well as other important life skills.
It is the coming of age story of a little bird and a little girl as they together embark on a journey of adventure and discovery about the world around them and about each other. It is about growing up and taking risks while not giving up or being discouraged by failure.
It is an important story for all ages as it highlights the character values of respect, responsibility, compassion, courage and perseverance while also giving readers a true life lesson about baby birds.
Young readers will enjoy the colorful illustrations while also relating to the bond between Little Bird and Mother Bird, and older readers can identify with the values of courage and perseverance when facing difficult, challenging or unfamiliar situations, as depicted by the characters of Little Bird and the little girl.
